Diverting resources away from Chapters has persisted as a problem, and there have been no gains in the level of support—or the quality of advice—provided to the rank and file. In 2007, Field personnel were often well-paid but lacking in leadership. The surprise selling of the property in 2010 was, therefore, a blow to many Chapter Leaders. The justification for the sale was unconvincing to many. Immediately upon the emergence of labor-busting efforts in Wisconsin, Eddie stepped up to defend government workers. He has joined with prominent union leaders and labor supporters in Texas at a number of events to advocate for state and federal employees under attack, and he has rallied Chapter members, who—carrying their NTEU signs high—have increased visibility for NTEU in Texas.
